We would like to invite you to a special, nationwide, online marathon: “Budokan Synergy 2020” on May 29, 2020. The marathon is a fundraiser with a goal to raise 300,000 hryvnias.
The event will feature over 20 speakers from all over the world; including community volunteers, scientists, educators, artists, known bloggers, students and graduates of the school. We will be talking, discussing and listening to live music non-stop for 12 hours. The main feature of the marathon will be the Ukrainian record attempt by our school principal, Sensei Oleksandr Kozlovsky, to set a record in the continuous 12-hour performance of shōmen’uchi katana (samurai sword cutting).
As this school year comes to an end, we are starting to prepare for the next one. To ensure Budokan’s first-graders can start training in September, we will need additional funds to repair our classrooms. During these uncertain times, with education seeing cutbacks, it has become increasingly challenging to receive proper government funding.
However, we always strive to develop creative solutions to any obstacles we may encounter. The quarantine has presented us a completely new problem to which we had to develop solutions in a short period of time. We quickly adjusted by reaching out and seeking help, looking at the problem from different perspectives and adapting new ideas.
It will be interesting, informative and beneficial. Let’s break stereotypes together. The purpose of the marathon is to raise 300 thousand hryvnias for the repairs of two classrooms for the upcoming first-graders. We plan to carry out repairs during the summer of 2020 (July 1, 2020 – August 31, 2020)
Classroom renovations are needed to replace flooring, repair ceilings, walls and install new lighting. If we manage to exceed our fundraiser goal, we will be able to repair an additional classroom, which is in poor condition on the third floor of the school, but if not, we will look for alternative ways to raise funds. All raised funds beyond the goal will be fully utilized for improvements to the school, there is no shortage of work that needs to be done to improve our school to the high standards we seek for our students.
The broadcast will take place on our Facebook Page
and on our youtube channel.
